My Birthday Celebration

Jenn had to work my birthday weekend, but luckily she managed to switch with another nurse for Saturday at least. So Saturday we took a day trip up to Linville, NC and visited Linville Caverns and Linville Falls. It was kind of a last minute decision on my part to go there, but it ended up working out really well.

The drive took about 2 hours to get to the caverns. It was pretty touristy but cool to visit at least once. The cavern goes back about 600 feet and end at a pool apparently that can lead through to the other side. We are only allowed to venture in the first 300 feet though accompanied by a tour guide. The cavern is also home to bats which we actually had a brief encounter with early in the tour. At the end of the tour they turned off all the lights which was also pretty neat.

While we were up in Linville, we decided to also take the hike to view the waterfalls. It was a short hike to the lookouts and worth it with some great views enjoyed in some beautiful weather. Overall and enjoyable birthday day.
