Me standing in our ice-covered half inch of snow after a long run
This winter has been everything I expect from winter. Jenn and I were snowed in during our trip up to PA around Christmas and I thought it would be the last snow I saw of the year. I was wrong. At the end of January, we had a "storm" meaning we had about an inch and a half of snow and then another quarter inch or so of ice on top of that. Luckily, we got it over the weekend, so I thought we wouldn't have to make up any days of school. I was wrong again. On Sunday I got a call from Gaston County around 4 PM saying school was cancelled for Monday due to the dropping temperatures overnight (turning melting snow into ice). It was nice to have a day off, but then on Monday around 4 PM I got the call again cancelling school Tuesday. So now we have a long stretch of no breaks.

The Tuesday we were off school due to the storm was Jenn's birthday. So I made Jenn our traditional ribs dinner. I did not make the cake this year as last year my cake collapsed in the middle. I offered, but Jenn refused and baked her own cake. The cake is mostly eaten in the movie because we started eating it a few days before her actual birthday.

Jenn and I have been continuing with our marathon training. We basically follow the same schedule but she has 1 more day of rest than I do. If you want to check up on my training, refer to my January blog about MapMyRun. It is getting pretty rough and soon it will get worse as the easy runs of 3 miles are about to turn into 4. My knees and hips are holding up so far and Jenn's injury is not bothering her. So far, so good.

Finally, we got a final snowstorm last night. We got almost 2 inches! It will probably all melt throughout the day so Jenn and I took Leo outside this morning and go a few pictures of our winter wonderland. Jenn and I plan on relaxing inside today and hopefully only change out of pajamas to go for my run. We'll see if Jenn let's me be that lazy.
